Events of the Nebraska Writers Guild

NWG at 2009 NE State Fair, Lincoln State Fair Grounds, Aug 28-Sept 7 http://www.statefair.org/ (Charlene Neely)

Members are encouraged to contact the State Fair Coordinator to sign up for "hosting" the booth for whatever time is possible during the run of the Fair.  Approximately 25,000 people walk by that booth.  We hand out fliers, talk about our organization and members SELL BOOKS.  You can obtain a discounted pass to the fair by volunteering.

The annual Fall Conference in the western half of the state is an opportunity for our members out there to showcase their communities and to make it easier for their rural neighbors to connect with the Guild.  The Friday evening member readings has grown into a special social period for all involved.

Spring Conference,

The annual Spring Conference has found a suitable "home" at Eugene Mahoney State Park off I-80, between Omaha and Lincoln, overlooking the beautiful Platte River Valley.  We anticipate many years of showing off Nebraska to speakers from the east and west coast who will learn that our members have a lot to offer the publishing and film industries.

"Write Across Nebraska" Mid-Summer Retreats

Open to all writers (not just NWG members), this "time apart" from your regular day-to-day demands, is intended to motivate you to write as much as possible. You may want to separate yourself from others to focus OR you have the otion of partticipating in chats with other writers, brief workshops and/or peer critiques of works-in-progress. You do not have to participate in the entire weekend, but may choose to come for one day or any portion. Significant others (spouses) will find plenty of opportunities to commiserate with people who understand the unique demands of "living with a writer". The sponsor-sites are selected to offer opportunities for relaxation, touring , shopping for those coming with the writers. The event itself is FREE to all. The only expenses will be lodging and/or meals.
